The sign up period for the next Oneida County Sheriff's Office Correction Officer exam is now open.

Sheriff Rob Maciol says individuals interested in a career as a correction officer can apply to take the exam through September 28th.

In order to qualify to take the exam, individuals must be at least 18 years of age, and must be a legal resident of Oneida, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oswego, or Otsego Counties one month preceding the date of appointment.

Starting annual salary is $34,296 and after successfully completing the Corrections Training Academy or months of employment, the annual salary adjusts to $40,348.

The test will be held on November 17th.
