Utica, NY (WIBX) - Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara says his office has secured a $50,000 dollar federal grant for the purchase of equipment to be used to record police interviews and interrogations.

McNamara says ten police agencies will benefit from the installation of video equipment to record statements given by suspects in criminal cases.

Those agencies include the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Waterville sub-station, and the Kirkland, Boonville, New York Mills, Oriskany, Vernon, Whitesboro, Whitestown, Sherrill and Yorkville Police Departmments

In 2007, the D-A's office received a grant for the installation of video equipment at five of  the largest law enforcement agencies in the county.
