Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente presented a check for more than $21,000 to the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area today.

County employees raised the money during their annual workplace campaign through payroll deductions, one-time contributions, dress down days, raffles and a bake sale.

“I am continually impressed by the generosity of our county employees and proud of the lengths they will go to for the betterment of this community,” Picente said. “This $21,000 raised for the United Way is further proof of their giving spirit and will make a real difference for many of our residents.”

Brenda Episcopo, Executive Director of the United Way, says the donations will go toward funding United Way initiatives including services and education for things like obesity, mental health, bullying and drug abuse.
