Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente is unveiling a new program aimed at combating opioid and heroin use in the community.

The program will be implemented in collaboration with the Oneida County Opioid Task Force through the Center for Family Life and Recovery.

Picente says the program will focus on prevention and education.

He says in 2015, of all county residents who admitted to substance abuse problems, 35 percent admitted to using heroin

The program is being funded with $50,000 in Partners in Prosperity Public Safety money.
