Out of the 62 Counties in New York State Oneida County came in as one of the most dangerous.

The website NewYorkUpstate.com has released the 2016 rankings of the most dangerous counties in New York based on total number of people to number of violent and property crimes.

You may be surprised to find out where Oneida County came in on the list. Of all 62 counties, Utica and Rome's county came in at 13th.

According to New York Upstate out of every 100,000 people 2,245 crimes were committed. Out of the over 5,000 crimes recorded in 2016 4,566 were property crimes and 654 were violent crimes. Oneida County has a population of 232,500.

Onondaga County came in at 10th most dangerous, Herkimer County came in at 30th and Madison County was ranked 40th. The most dangerous county in all of New York State is Schenectady County which is home of the Capitol Region.
