Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol was joined by several law enforcement agencies and local officials at the Deerfield Fire Station on Tuesday to discuss snowmobile safety.

Maciol says snowmobilers are encouraged to do their part in keeping snowmobile trails as safe as possible.

He says snowmobile patrols will be out looking for unregistered snowmobiles, speeding, reckless operation and snowmobiling while intoxicated.

You can get all of the rules and regulations regarding snowmobiles on the New York State Parks website.

There are more than 540 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the area.
