Officials from Oneida County and the City of Utica are announcing two new partnerships between the Sheriff's Office and Utica Police Department.

Sheriff Rob Maciol says members of the UPD's Narcotics Unit have recently been deputized.

The second initiative involves the Sheriff's Office SWAT Team.

Maciol says they're now training and operating together with the Utica and New Hartford Police Departments as a Regional SWAT Team.

Maciol says that partnership has already paid off.  He says just this week, the Regional SWAT Team executed a search warrant that netted two handguns, two long guns and illegal drugs.

Maciol and Utica Police Chief Mark Chief Williams say their agencies will continue to develop further programs together in order to provide the highest quality and most effective services for the people they serve.
