In early January Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy Alicia Marconi responded to a call for an abandoned dog in the Town of Trenton.

When she arrived on the scene she found the dog - 'Lucy' - covered with sores and severely emaciated.

After bringing Lucy to the Stevens Swan Humane Society and following up with several visits, Deputy Marconi and Lucy developed a special bond.

In March of this year, Deputy Marconi officially adopted Lucy and is happy to report that she is doing very well and is a wonderful addition to the family.

Marconi says Lucy has gained 17 pounds since she was found, has learned several commands, is very intelligent and has an animated personality.

"It is stories like this that show the high level of dedication and compassion that the members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office have," Sheriff Rob Maciol said.
