Local residents had a chance to sit down and chat over a cup of coffee with members of the Oneida County Sheriff's Office on Friday morning.

The Sheriff's Office hosted "Community Coffee" events at the Riverside Diner and Daybreak Diner in Marcy.

Lauren Marleau, who is a Road Patrol Deputy with the Sheriff's Office, says it's a great chance to get to interact with the community on a personal level.

Marleau says a number of topics have come up, including the weather.  She says many people just come up and thank them for the job they do, which they appreciate.

Friday's events were sponsored by the Marcy Chamber of Commerce.

More "Community Coffee" events will be held over the coming months.
