Municipalities across Oneida County will get nearly $4.5 million in state funding to help support construction and repairs of local highways and bridges.

Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi say the funding from the state DOT is included in this year's budget through the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement or CHIPS program.

A total of $438 million will be distributed statewide, and an additional $50 million will go toward extreme winter recovery spending.

Utica will get $1.3 million in CHIPS funding and $150,000 for winter recovery.

The City of Rome will get over $882,000 and $106,000 for winter recovery projects.

The repair and maintenance of roadway infrastructure throughout Oneida County can be a daunting task for any municipality, and hopefully this funding will help ensure that anyone traveling within our communities will have a smooth ride,” said Griffo.
