An Oneida man is facing charges following an early morning stabbing on North Lake Street in Oneida.

Oneida City Police say 36-year old Michael Stevens was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say the stabbing was the result of a dispute between Stevens and a woman who knew each other.

The victim suffered serious wounds, which are not believed to be life threatening. She was transported to the Oneida Health Care Facility and the transferred to a Syracuse area hospital.

The investigation is on-going and additional charges are possible.
