An Oneida man is facing charges for allegedly bringing drugs into the Madison County jail.

26-year old Robert Hartwell was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, promoting prison contraband and tampering with physical evidence.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says Hartwell was seen trying to take pills he had brought into the facility by concealing them in a balloon in a body cavity.

Hartwell is currently serving a sentence of 120 days of weekends for an attempted assault charge.
