The Oneida Nation has been named the Central New York region's largest employer in 2016.

According to the most recent survey by the Central New York Business Journal, the Oneida Indian Nation's 4,600 employee workforce is the biggest in the area once again.

“We are proud and honored to be the largest employer in Central New York,” said Oneida Nation Representative Ray Halbritter. “Over the last two decades, we have based our enterprises on the idea that through careful planning and a commitment to local investment, we can build an economic engine that supports thousands of jobs and families throughout the region. In that time, we have faced many challenges in a competitive tourism economy — and it is because of our incredible workforce that we are succeeding in the face of those challenges. We have always understood that what sets us apart is our committed and talented employees. We are confident that we are well positioned to continue strengthening this region’s economy today — and for future generations.”

Those numbers make the Nation's workforce bigger than the local workforce of Walmart, Price Chopper and Lockheed Martin.
