Oneida Nation Announces Annual Bonus

Verona, NY (WIBX) - Oneida Nation CEO, Ray Halbritter, announced that nearly 4,500 employees will be receiving bonuses this year.

$5,000,000 will be divided among the employees of the Turning Stone Casino, Sav-On gas stations and other Nation holdings.

Casino Shift Manager, Kenneth Martin, says the bonuses have been a mainstay for the Oneida Nation since the casino opened in 1993.

"The nation has consistently extended this bonus. And once again, in a lot of situtations in this industry, where bonuses have long been a thing of the past, usually when some companies are re-structuring or laying off, the Nation still finds it important to extend this bonus."                

Halbritter says the bonuses come just in time for the biggest shopping day of the year.

"We're only five days from Black Friday, so it's a great opportunity," Halbritter said. "I think its great that some of the local Chambers of Commerce and businesses have offered discounts to our employees to attract them in. I think it's a great idea..."

Representatives from local Chambers of Commerce and Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente were invited to the event in an effort to encourage employees to spend the extra money locally.
