An Oneonta man is facing second-degree murder charges after admitting to police he killed his friend. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of January 1st, 2017 on Main Street in Oneonta.

Oneonta Police say they received a call from Otsego County 911 regarding an individual who called them, and confessed to killing his friend. Police responded to the call, and following an investigation it was determined that 25-year-old Joshua Underwood of Oneonta had allegedly used blunt force trauma to the head to kill his acquaintance. Underwood was placed under arrest, and is facing multiple charges including second degree murder, attempted arson, and criminal possession of a weapon. The identity of the victim is not being released until the family is notified.
