A sheriff's deputy will not be ticketed after authorities admit that he caused an accident over the weekend.

Detective John Seeber says Onondaga County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Ciciriello was on patrol when he hit a car after running a red light on Brewerton Road in Cicero, New York on December 13, 2014.

MetroSource quotes Seeber as saying that Deputy Ciciriello was "clearly at fault"  for causing the accident, but says that he will not be ticketed because he was on patrol when the incident occurred.

Both the Ciciriello and the driver of the other car were said to have suffered only minor injuries.  Both cars, however, were heavily damaged in the accident.
