Operation Tax Burden Underway

Utica, NY - 18 Oneida County residents have been charged with committing welfare and unemployment fraud.

The arrests are the result of Operation Tax Burden, an effort of the County District Attorney's Office, along with several law enforcement agencies.

Assistant District Attorney Bernard Hyman says for anyone who is stealing from taxpayers, now is the time to stop and contact the Department of Social Services and make it right.  Hyman says if you are cheating the system, it will catch up to you.  Others are still being sought as part of the continuing operation.
