Utica, NY (WIBX) - Law enforcement officials arrested a teen from Oppenheim, NY after allegedly engaging police in a low-speed car chase. Officials say, 17-year-old Asia Frere refused to stop the car she was operating. They say the pursuit started on Route 12 near the River Road exit, and ended in New Hartford on Route 12 and Genesee Street, and say the pursuit averaged about 40 mph.

The report states that Frere was reported as a missing person, and was driving a car that was allegedly stolen by her mother out of Fulton County. Frere is charged with Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, No Driver's License, and Failure To Comply with a Police Order. Officials did not release information about the accusations that her mother stole the car.
