The Syracuse Orange faded away late, losing on a turnover in the closing seconds in a 51-49 defeat to Notre Dame at the Carrier Dome Saturday.

Sophomore Tyus Battle drilled a three-pointer with under a minute to play to pull Syracuse even at 49-all. Battle then got a steal and began to work the clock to setup a potential game-winning possession for the Orange. But Battle had the ball knocked away with only 10 seconds remaining. It sparked an Irish fast-break that ended with a Rex Pflueger rebound and put-back to give Notre Dame a two-point lead with 2.6 to play.

Battle's half-court prayer wasn't answered as the Orange fell despite holding Notre Dame to just 30% shooting on the day. Syracuse could muster just 21 second half points and fell to 12-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC.

Notre Dame improves to 13-3 and 3-0 in ACC play.

Syracuse will visit eighth ranked Virginia on Tuesday night (8:00).
