Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri says two properties located at the corner of Mohawk and Eagle Streets will be demolished in the coming weeks.

Palmieri says the two properties, owned by a subsidiary of Benderson Development Corporation, have been vacant and boarded up for nearly a decade.

The Mayor says for many years, East Utica residents have expressed concerns about the condition of the properties and their impact on quality of life in the neighborhood.

Palmieiri says Benderson has already begun exploring potential economic development opportunities for the property and will likely be presenting development plans to the City in the next few months.
