Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri has vetoed seven of the 27 budget amendments passed this week by the Common Council.

Most of the amendments deal with the Department of Public Works and the Police and Fire Departments.

The budget was passed 9-to-0.

The Council was able to cut Palmieri's 3.75% property tax increase to just under 2%.

A special Common Council meeting will take place tonight at 5:00 to consider the mayor's vetoes.

Six votes are needed for an override.
