Palmieri To Conduct 50th Sweep

Make it 50 and counting.

Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri will conduct his 50th Quality of Life Sweep since taking office today.

The mayor and his team will target major parts of the Boilermaker course.

The sweep will begin at noon at the intersection of Genesee Street and Shepherd Place and will include the Boilermaker home stretch.

DPW and Parks crews will be equipped with lawnmowers, street cleaners and "weed whackers."

City personnel will also be ready to paint fire hydrants in need of a touch up.

Palmieri says the sweeps will continue until winter.
