Parolee Facing Felony Drug Charges After Traffic Stop
Utica, NY (WIBX) - A man taken into police custody following a traffic stop in Utica, at the intersection of Columbia and Cornelia Street, is facing an array of drug charges. According to Utica police, 28-year-old Javell Fox was found to be in possession of a large quantity of heroin packaged in glassine envelopes, and "crack" cocaine. Fox is also accused of kicking the officer attempting to take him into custody, forcing officials to use a Taser to bring him under control.
Fox is charged with the following offenses:
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (2 counts),
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree (a class C felony),
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree/intent to sell (a class B felony),
- Resisting arrest,
- Harassment in the second degree.
Officials say, Fox is also on New York State parole on a separate felony drug offense.
