Parolee Who Left Brooklyn without Permission Arrested After Alleged Fight in Walmart Parking Lot
A woman has been hospitalized with what police are saying are "serious injuries" following a fight in the parking lot of a retailer in Herkimer, New York.
In a written statement police say they were called to Walmart early this morning, June 7, 2015, to investigate a call made to 911 during which the caller hung up.
When Herkimer Police arrived they say they were told that a man and woman were fighting in the parking lot. According to the release, officers took Tiquan W. Gibbs into custody "(w)ith the assistance of two civilians."
Gibbs, who is considered a parole absconder by the New York State Division of Parole, is being held pending arraignment. He is charged with the following:
- assault (first degree, a felony)
- criminal possession of a weapon (third degree, a felony)
- strangulation (second degree, a felony)
- unlawful imprisonment (first degree, a felony)
- menacing (second degree, a misdemeanor)
There is no word as to any potential charges he will face from moving from his primary residence in Brooklyn without notification to, or permission, from the parole board.
