Albany, NY (WIBX) - Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente, was in Albany to show his support for Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposed Tier Six retirement system.

Picente, who was asked by Mayor Michael Bloomerg to attend, addressed the high costs of pensions, saying, "Oneida County's retirement system payment has gone up over 548% from 2001 to 2010."

The Governor's proposed Tier Six plan would decrease the amount employers contribute, while increasing employee contributions over the Tier Five rate.

It would also decrease benefits and raise the minimum retirement age from 62 to 65.

Picente said counties "have no control over the pension benefits awarded to their own employees," but end up paying the bill.
