Michael Pineda tossed eight shutout innings and Mark Teixeira went yard again as the Yankees doubled-up the Blue Jays 6-3 on Tuesday night in Toronto.

Striking out six while giving up just five hits, Pineda threw 101 pitches to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits, Alex Rodriguez added a two-run double and Teixeira's two run homer in the fifth inning of the Jays' Marco Estrada was his 10th of the season and 373rd of his career. That ties with teammate Carlos Beltran for first on the all-time HR list among switch hitters.

Estrada (1-1) was yanked after giving up that homer, charged with five runs on eight hits over 4 and 2/3 innings.

New York's David Carpenter was called to mop-up in the ninth but was charged with three run on three hits and walk, including a solo homer from ex-Yankee Russell Martin.

The rubber game of the three game set is Wednesday night (7:07).
