Senior wide receiver Anthony Acevedo snagged a pair of touchdown catches and returned a punt for a score for first the time in his college career as the Utica College Pioneers topped Alfred University 35-14 on Senior Night at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Saturday night.

Acevedo, of New Hartford, took an Alfred punt 57-yards in the first quarter to give UC an early 7-0 lead and excited a full house of Pioneer parents and students in their regular season home finale.

After playing to 14-14 tie at the half, Utica scored three answered touchdowns in the second half, moving to 6-3 and tying the program's record for wins.

Pioneer's running back J'Von Evans ran for 120 yards on 27 carries and shook off a fumble late in the first half that ended a potential scoring drive. Evans did find the end zone in the second half, a 7-yard TD run that followed a sack/fumble by the Pioneer defense.
