Players’ Union Reps to Vote on HGH Testing for 2014

The reps will hold a conference Friday afternoon during which HGH testing, originally agreed upon in 2011, would be put into action if approved. The players have balked at the science in the testing and the appeals process for positive tests.

There also would be retroactivity for players who are suspended under previous policies, and for those in the appeal process. Those players, presumably including Browns receiver Josh Gordon, who is suspended for the season, and Broncos receiver Wes Welker (four games), would be subject to standards of the new policies.

A two-game suspension would be issued upon conviction of any driving under the influence cases. The union rejected a league proposal that players, NFL employees, team owners, executives and coaches immediately be disciplined upon a DUI arrest.
