Police Chase Ends In Fatal Crash

Schuyler, NY (WIBX)- State Police are investigating a crash on Route 5 in Schuyler that claimed the life of a Frankfort woman.

Troopers say a car driven by 65-year old Gail Pietruska was hit by a vehicle driven by 24-year old Daniel Conklin of Rochester, who led police on a chase that began in Herkimer.

The pursuit began when Conklin failed to stop for a speeding violation.

Pietruska died last night at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

A passenger in her car, 54-year old Louise Medallis, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with a back injury.

Conklin is being held on a violation of parole warrant while further criminal action is pending.
