The driver of a car being chased by police in Niagara Falls crashed into another car, fatally injuring one and injuring another.

Thirty-year old Lewis R. Worrells of Niagara Falls was allegedly driving, without his headlights on, at a high rate of speed when he drove through a flashing red light at 74th Street and Niagara Falls Boulevard and past New York State Police.  The troopers, who were monitoring the radio of the Niagara Falls Police Department, started to chase Worrells.

According to a written release from the NYSP, the chase went on for about a mile before Worrells rear-ended another car at the intersection of 56th Street and Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Worrells was taken to Erie County Medical Center where he died from his injuries at 7:26am.

The driver of the second car was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital where he eventually refused treatment and was released.
