GEDDES, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a police vehicle pursuit that started outside Syracuse ended with a 22-year-old man dead after being hit by a tractor-trailer and a 16-year-old boy in custody.

Onondaga County sheriff's deputies say the man sped away from a traffic stop in Skaneateles around 12:30 a.m. Thursday and headed north. Deputies say the teen fled the vehicle in the town of Camillus while the 22-year-old driver kept going.

Police found the vehicle on the on-ramp to Interstate 690 in neighboring Geddes (GEH'-dehs). Soon after they spotted a truck stopped alongside I-690's eastbound lanes. Deputies say they found the man's body nearby.

His name hasn't been released. Police say he was from East Syracuse.

The teen has been found. Police say he's from Elbridge.

The investigation is continuing.
