PAMELIA, N.Y. (AP) — State police say they're investigating the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in a northern New York town.

Troopers say the shooting was reported in a 911 call to Jefferson County emergency dispatchers around 1 a.m. Thursday. Officials say Tyler Johnson was dead when troopers arrived at a residence in the town of Pamelia, 70 miles north of Syracuse.

State police Capt. Mark Lincoln told WWNY-TV in Watertown that Johnson later died at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

Lincoln says Johnson had recently moved into a home on Route 37.

Police say they believe Johnson was targeted and there's no threat to the public.
