SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police in Syracuse say the slaying of a man in his 40s is being investigated.

Police say officers responded around 1 a.m. Sunday to reports of a shooting on Shonnard Street. When officers arrived they found a man suffering serious injuries. An ambulance was called to the scene but police say the victim had already died.

His name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Police say it hadn't been determined if the man had been shot or injured with another type of weapon. The Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office will try determine the victim's cause of death.

No arrests have been reported.
