ONEIDA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say they are investigating a person of interest in the murder of an upstate New York woman found dead in her home by a relative.

The Syracuse Post-Standard reports the body of 32-year-old Tiffany Meeks was discovered Tuesday afternoon in her Oneida home on North Lake Street.

Oneida Police Chief David Meeker says it was "apparent" Meeks was the victim of a homicide. Previous reports stated the mother of two had been strangled.

Meeker says there were no signs of forced entry, although he found it suspicious that Meeks' car was missing.

Investigators believe Meeks was murdered sometime between late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

Meeker did not identify the suspect. Police say no one is currently in custody.
