Police Launch Seat Belt Enforcement Push In NY State Parks

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Police patrolling New York state parks want to make sure people buckle up.

State troopers and the state park police are taking part in a seat belt education and enforcement program running this weekend through Aug. 13. The campaign coincides with a peak time for state park visits.

Last year's Buckle Up New York campaign resulted in more than 43,000 tickets. That included more than 900 tickets for child restraint violations and more than 1,900 tickets for adult seatbelt violations.
