ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (AP) — Police in upstate New York say men posing as a paving crew stole money from a man who they convinced to come out of his house.

Rotterdam police say the theft happened Sunday, when two men in a pickup truck attempted to sell the victim on driveway repairs. The Times Union reports the men did the work without the victim's permission then called him outside.

Police say one of the men broke into the man's home while he was inspecting the driveway. Authorities say the two men stole an undisclosed amount of money.

Police Lt. Jeffrey Collins says police will investigate similarities with other area robberies.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact police.
