COHOES, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a mayor accused of choking his wife and daughter last year allegedly grabbed an 18-year-old man during an incident at the politician's upstate New York home.

Police in Cohoes say officers responded to Mayor Shawn Morse's home Saturday after the Democrat called 911 asking for assistance.

The Times Union of Albany reports a teen who used to date one of Morse's daughters showed up at his home and threatened him. Morse's attorney told the newspaper that the mayor grabbed the teen by the neck and pushed him off the front porch.

Cohoes police turned the matter over to state police, who have launched an unrelated investigation into allegations that Morse choked his wife and daughter during separate incidents in 2017.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other top New York Democrats have called for Morse's resignation.
