Utica Police are releasing more details regarding the Friday night discovery of two bodies in a South Street home, calling it a murder-suicide.

Officials say Moeun Porm, 45, returned home from a vacation in Cambodia Friday afternoon at around 4:20 to find her estranged husband, Somnang Porm, also 45, inside the home.

A family member later discovered their bodies at around 10 that night. Both had been shot.

The UPD says they believe Somnang Porm, who lived on Seymour Avenue shot and killed his wife with a high powered rifle, then turned the gun on himself.

More details will soon be released, as police continue to investigate.

This is the second case of a murder-suicide in the City of Utica this year, following the deaths of Jerry McNair and Petra Gonzalez last month. The number of deaths in Utica this year have also jumped compared to last year's single death in 2012.
