Oneida City Police Chief David Meeker says the latest search for a woman who's been missing since 1981 has concluded.

Police spent Friday searching an area off Route 46 for 19-year old Tammy Mahoney of Oneida, who was last seen hitchhiking on Route 46 in May of 1981.

Meeker says a specially trained K9 was brought in to insure a thorough check of the area

Police believe Mahoney was kidnapped, gang-raped and murdered. No suspects have been charged in the case.

Meeker says the investigation into the lead that led to yesterday's search is continuing.

He says additional leads have come in as a result and the investigation into the case will continue.

State Police and the FBI assisted Oneida Police in the search.
