CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a man who was wearing body armor and armed with two semi-automatic weapons is in custody after he shot and wounded a man outside a suburban Buffalo retail store.

Police in the town of Cheektowaga (cheek-tuh-WAH'-guh) say officers responded around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a man with a gun outside a Dollar General store.

Officers were able to catch the suspect after he attempted to flee on foot. Police say he was wearing camouflage and body armor, and two AR-15 rifles were recovered from the scene.

Officials say a 53-year-old Cheektowaga man suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

The suspect was taken to a Buffalo hospital, where he's being held under guard. The men's names haven't been released.

Police say they haven't determined a motive for the shooting.
