State Police believe the Holland Patent teenager accused of murdering his father not only continued to live in their home after allegedly killing his dad, but frequently had friends over without telling them a body lie dead under a tarp in the backyard.

Austin Parker, 17, was arrested shortly after the remains of 52-year-old Steven Parker - who police say is Austin's adopted father - were found Wednesday afternoon in the yard at their home on Route 365 (pictured above). State Police believe the elder Parker was killed approximately a month ago, yet Austin continued to live there.

And, often had guests over, Troop D Public Information Officer Jack Keller tells WIBX, saying it had been somewhat of a 'hangout' for Austin and his friends. Some of those friends called police on Wednesday after they entered the house without Austin and sensed something wasn't right. Their familiarity with the home is the reason they felt comfortable 'just opening the door [to the house] and walking in,' Keller said.

Police are awaiting autopsy results on the Steven Parker's cause of death. Their teenage suspect remains held on a charge of second-degree murder.

Additionally, two dogs were found dead inside the home. Keller says they were 'found in a location inside the home where they could not get out'. A necropsy is being performed on the animals to determine their cause of death, but Keller said it appeared both were malnourished. The SPCA is assisting police in that part of the investigation, he said.
