A portion of Routes 5A and 5S will be named the "Officer Thomas M. Lindsey Memorial Highway" under a bill passed by the state Assembly.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says Officer Lindsey gave everything he had to Utica Police Department and the citizens of Oneida County during his five-year career.

He says the memorial highway should serve as a constant reminder of his supreme sacrifice.

Lindsey was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2007.
