Possible Bomb Making Material Led To Marcy Prison Lockdown

We now know what caused a partial lockdown at the Marcy Correctional Facility earlier this week.

The New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association says an inmate was found to be in possession of instructions on how to make an explosive device.

Officials says a search of the inmate's living area turned up what appeared to be potential bomb making material, at which time the State Police bomb squad was called.

The inmate is facing departmental charges in addition to possible outside charges.

He's been moved to a special housing unit of the facility as an investigation continues.

Marcy Correctional Facility has resumed normal operations since the incident on Monday.
