Utica, NY (WIBX) - Postal workers across the upstate region are staging rallies today.

They're hoping to send a message that cutting jobs isn't the answer to solving the nation's budget crisis.  The demonstrations come as Congress looks to close thousands of post offices that would leave more than 100,000 workers without jobs.

A rally will be held at Congressman Richard Hanna's office on Genesee Street in Utica from 4:00 to 5:30.

Today's rally comes a few days after last week's public hearing regarding the future of the Postal Service's Distribution Center on Pitcher Street.
