HOUSTON (AP) — Opponents of abortion have held a prayer rally outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Houston as the U.S. Supreme Court weighs the constitutionality of a Texas law regulating abortion clinics.

The law requires doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and forces clinics to meet hospital-like standards for outpatient surgery.

Texas Solicitor General Scott Keller told the justices that the law protects women's health, but the clinics said its real purpose is to reduce access to abortion.

Participants in the Houston rally read Bible passages about life in the womb and prayed that the Texas law will be upheld so that more clinics will be forced to close.
