Premier Aviation and JetBlue have signed a five-year maintenance and painting agreement.

Under terms of the agreement, the aircraft maintenance of two lines of E-190 aircraft will begin today at Premier's facility at Griffiss International Airport in Rome.

The contract will grow to support the painting of two lines of aircraft, which will initially be done at Premier's Quebec facility in 2017.

The maintenance and paint lines are expected to add skilled jobs in Rome.

Senator Charles Schumer recently urged JetBlue to bring more maintenance work to Griffiss.  Schumer says today’s agreement will allow Premier to create new, good-paying jobs, and allow for the economic benefits to reverberate throughout Oneida County and Central New York.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi issued the following statement on the announcement from JetBlue and Premier:

“Today’s announcement is excellent news, and another sign that the sky is the limit for the future of the Griffiss International Airport. The good-paying, skilled jobs that are being created through this agreement will significantly benefit the Mohawk Valley’s economy.  JetBlue’s confidence in Premier demonstrates the quality work the company performs at Griffiss Airport, which has become a center in the aircraft maintenance field.  Things continue to look up at Griffiss with the news that JetBlue will touchdown.  Thanks to Senator Schumer for clearing the runway and helping land the deal.”
