Thomas R. Proctor High School grad Brianna Kiesel has been drafted by the WNBA's Tulsa Shock.

Kiesel, 21, was taken as the 13th overall pick on Thursday. The Utica native played her college ball at Pittsburgh where she was a three-time captain who average nearly 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3.5 assists with the Panthers.

The 5-foot-7 guard is the all-time leading scorer at Proctor, and set milestones at Pitt as well, the UticaOD.com reports:

“I’m so excited for her,” said Vinny Perrotta, Kiesel’s Proctor coach.  “All day, the anticipation and waiting for this to happen.”

Kiesel is the first player in Pittsburgh history with more than 1,500 career points, 500 career rebounds and 400 career assists. She scored a career-high 32 points at Tennessee in a 77-67 loss to the Volunteers in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Pittsburgh finished 9-7 in the ACC and 20-12 overall in the team's most successful season in Kiesel's college career.
