Projects To Revitalize Rochester’s Riverfront Announced

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — State officials have announced 13 projects that are part of a $50 million effort to revitalize Rochester's riverfront.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo detailed the projects during a visit to Rochester on Wednesday.

They include new pedestrian trails to link downtown sites, bridge repairs, new promenades and upgrades to parks and other public spaces.

The state invested the funds in an effort to make the area along the Genesee River more attractive to businesses, residents and visitors.

A local advisory committee would be set up to recommend projects for investment.

Cuomo says the effort is intended to showcase Rochester's natural setting while re-establishing the riverfront as the centerpiece of the city's downtown.
