NEW YORK (AP) — Rachel Noerdlinger, the former chief of staff to New York City's first lady, says she's gotten a new job at a public relations firm.

Noerdlinger announced on Twitter Monday that she was hired as a managing director at Mercury Public Affairs. A telephone message seeking comment from the firm was not immediately returned.

Noerdlinger left her $170,000-a-year post as Chirlane McCray's aid in November after a string of damaging disclosures about her personal life, including the arrest of her son on misdemeanor trespassing charges.

In September, news reports divulged that Noerdlinger's boyfriend pleaded guilty to manslaughter 21 years ago and mocked police as "pigs" on Facebook.

A Department of Investigation probe also found that she omitted key information on her background check.
