The Oneida County Health Department says a person in the Town of Kirkland was bitten by a rabid cat.

Officials say the cat was acting sick and aggressive and tested positive this week for rabies.

They say signs to look for in a rabid animal include staggering, convulsions, choking, frothing at the mouth and unusual aggression

The Health Department is also reminding residents to keep their pets' rabies vaccinations up to date.

A Rabies Clinic will take place on August 8th at the Vienna Highway Garage from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
